Ask a Question

Question and answer

How do you pay farmers?
In this webshop, you pay for four weeks in advance. These payments are then used by L2L to buy directly from the farmers, which they have been collaborating with for many years, as a collective. The farmers receive their asking price directly from Local2Local. L2L has opted to stick to a fixed selling price and only adjust the supply (according to price fluctuations, availability and season). This way, the farmers have no trading risk and we avoid problems for your wallet.

Do the farmers get a fair price?
Local2Local pays the price the farmers ask. Because there are no buying and traditional chain costs and only very minimal handling costs, such as administration costs, we can keep the customer's price down. The only challenging cost factor is transporation. Therefor, in the start-up phase, L2L works with its partnering farmer collective in Flevoland to keep the handling costs as low as possible (as this is an existing short food chain operation, in terms of first-mille logistics and hub distribution). Once OFF Wageningen becomes more successful, we can connect more farmers from the Wageningen region. The closer the better.

Do we pay for the subscription beforehand (70 euros at the start) or do we pay 17,50 every time we go to get the package?
You pay 70 euros beforehand via our website using iDEAL. For this amount you will receive 4 deliveries, the collection days of which you can schedule yourself by logging into your account and change the delivery dates off your subscription.

Can I get a smaller package, only for 1 person? Approximately 7.5 kg is too much for me.
We understand the urgence of this issue and are thinking of ways to provide this in the future. However, we are not able to provide this at this early stage. Once the number of customers has grown, there would be the potential to provide smaller packages, based on increased volume, as this requires logistical investments. Until that's the case, you could try to find friends/colleagues/peers etc. to share the package with.

What are fair products? Are all products organic?
The fairness of the products lies in the transparency that participating farmers show Local2Local. For context, 'organic' does not necessarily mean that crops are unsprayed. The cooperation between L2L and the farmers has been in place for many years and the types of farmers vary, but we don't exclude anyone, because that's part of the food transition, to help each other achieve that. There is a high level of knowledge, experience and goodwill. There are participating farmers who grow regular crops and are in transition to organic, but also farmers who already grow completely organic and farmers who work 100% nature-inclusive. The products supplied therefore come from different types of cultivation and this will be displayed in our offers.

I simply want the fruit and veggies, not the eggs.
Vegan options are something we would love to incorporate in the future, but this is not yet applicable in this startup phase (see above). It is only a small portion of the package. Maybe you can share them with others, or try to exchange for veggies with other people at the pick-up location.

If I cannot come at the pick-up time, can I come to pick up the food on another day?
We would recommend finding another person to pick it up on the day instead. We do not have the capacity to have it picked up at any days other than the scheduled pickup time-frame.

Scheduling delivery times
You have until 10:00 am on Thursday morning every week to start a new subscription or make an adjustment for another delivery day. When adjusting your delivery days in your account, it is wise to first adjust the last delivery day and then the previous ones.

To what degree do we have choice in the products?
There is no choice in products, it depends on the season and the farmers! We do our best to vary the content of the packages as much as possible per week. At the point of pickup you might exchange the content with other groups that have come to pick up their package.

What types of fruits and vegetables can be expected?
The types of vegetables are dependent on the season, fruits will mainly be apples and pears throughout the whole year.

I will not be around for a while. Is it possible to cancel my subscription for a month? Or start my subscription in an another month?
Yes! You can manage the delivery days by logging into your account and change the delivery dates off your subscription. Aside from that, OFF will only take a break around Christmas, depending on the demand, which can be determined in the preceding weeks.
